A vast number of sport climbs in England's Peak District

Harpur Hill Quarry, just down the road from Horseshoe Quarry, is another great bastion of peak limestone sport climbing.
Not the most picturesque setting but this is one of the most extensive crags the Peak has to offer and there is plenty of space for setting up camp with babies well back from the base of the crag.
Nevertheless, this quarry is not without hazards for more mobile children. As you can see from the photo, the upper tier (where in my opinion some of the best climbing is to be found) whilst having a 10m wide platform at the base, does offer the potential of a long fall to the lower tier below. This makes the upper tier less suitable for young children who are prone to running around unmanageably.

Climbing, hill walking and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death.
Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement.
If an area is listed here as baby- or child- friendly it simply means that it is convenient, and does not mean the area is safe. Parents must make their own assessment of risk.
